Ed Kingsbury

Ed Kingsbury is a partner in the Investment Funds and Capital team. Ed’s practice focuses on advising fund managers and investors on investment fund and investment management arrangements, including venture, private equity, infrastructure, and debt. He has experience of advising on litigation funding, asset tracing, and royalties funds. He also advises on establishing new fund managers, carried interest arrangements, co-investment arrangements, secondaries transactions, and founder and fund-related disputes.

He is ranked by Chambers for venture capital (2001–2026), which notes his deep expertise in the pan-European venture capital funds space, and clients note he is “a highly engaging and sensible lawyer with great solutions and experience”, “unbelievably bright and extremely technical,” and that he “stands out for his availability, ability to navigate cross-border nuances and his clear communication.”

He is a long-standing member of the UK Private Capital (formerly BVCA) regulatory committee and the Invest Europe financial services working group.

Before joining Goodwin in 2026, he was a partner in the CMS funds practice, and was previously general counsel of WHEB, an investment group focused on sustainability.

Ed is a longstanding member of the UK Private Capital (British Venture Capital Association’s Regulatory Committee) and the Invest Europe Financial Services and Regulatory Working Group.
