Kara Kuritz is a partner in Goodwin’s Antitrust and Competition practice. Her practice focuses on assessing antitrust risk in mergers and acquisitions, advising clients on how to navigate any antitrust risk, and working to ensure clients comply with US and global premerger notification requirements. Kara advocates on behalf of clients before the Federal Trade Commission, Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, and state regulators in inquiries or investigations into mergers, acquisitions, or business conduct and policies. She also provides antitrust counseling on issues such as diligence and pre-closing conduct, information sharing, competitor collaborations, and interlocking directorates.

Kara joined Goodwin from the US Department of Justice, where she served as the Antitrust Division’s Hart-Scott-Rodino Act (HSR Act) Specialist. At the DOJ, Kara advised the Antitrust Division on application of the HSR Act, interlocking directorate issues, and antitrust policy issues. She liaised on behalf of the Antitrust Division with the FTC on HSR Act regulations, rulemakings, guidance, and enforcement actions.

Prior to joining the DOJ, Kara was an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati PC. She has also worked as a law clerk in the FTC’s Bureau of Competition.

Kara is a member of the American Bar Association. She is an active member of the Section of Antitrust Law, where she previously served as Vice Chair of the Antitrust-Consumer Protection Daily Digest Committee for several years.
