Allyson McCain is an associate in in the firm’s Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, representing a variety of corporate clients in state and federal courts nationwide. Allyson is particularly focused on disputes regarding product liability, consumer fraud, contract disputes and other commercial disputes.

Commercial Litigations

Allyson represents corporate clients in complex disputes, assisting in all stages of litigation, including pre-suit investigation, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation. Allyson has achieved favorable results for commercial clients, including client-friendly settlement agreements, early dismissals of entire actions, and enforcement of arbitration agreements. 

Pro-Bono

Allyson is dedicated to pro bono work, representing indigent clients in a variety of spaces. Allyson has successfully guided immigration clients to achieve asylum and special immigrant juvenile status, regularly participates in citizenship and expungement clinics, and has conducted substantial research regarding homelessness criminalization and reproductive and transgender rights for inclusion in national databases.

Professional Experience

Prior to becoming an attorney, Allyson worked at Goodwin as a legal secretary, and has worked in support staff and leadership roles in a variety of legal spaces. While attending law school, Allyson worked as an extern in the LGBTQ Asylum Clinic, assisting pro bono clients prepare asylum applications, and as a volunteer law clerk for the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, assisting litigants navigate discrimination suits.

Professional Activities

Allyson is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco and American Bar Association, and serves as a leader in the firm’s First Gen Inclusion Network and a Pro Bono Steering Committee in the firm’s San Francisco office.

In law school, Allyson served as Managing Editor of the Golden Gate University Law Review, and was awarded Leslie Rose Excellence in Advocacy Award and the ALI-CLE Scholarship and Leadership Award.

Publications

In June 2020, Allyson published an article in the Golden Gate University Law Review titled “Perez v. City of Roseville: Constitutional Protections for Public Employees in Matters Pertaining to Sex.” Allyson gave a presentation of this article in January 2020 at the Chief Justice Ronald M. George Distinguished Lecture Series at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Courthouse, sponsored by Golden Gate University School of Law.

Allyson also co-authored a Goodwin Client Alert in November 2022, entitled “No Green Wave This Time, But Two More States Legalize Adult-Use Cannabis.”
