Matt Muir is an Associate in Goodwin’s Business Law department. He joined Goodwin in 2022.
Experience
Matt’s practice focuses on the lifecycle of tech and life sciences emerging companies. Matt assists in every step of the way from company formations, venture financings, and day-to-day operations of companies to exits.
Professional Activities
Prior to law school, Matt worked with the General Counsel's office of a large international law firm, was Vice President of an economic development non-profit representing 13,000+ stakeholders in front of state and local government officials to attract existing businesses and startups to development zones, and briefly founded his own startup in the same space.
During law school Matt was a Research Associate with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (now known as the International Sustainability Standards Board), Director of the Business Law Society at UCI, an Associate Editor on the UCI Law Review, and a Research Assistant to Professor Christopher Leslie. Matt earned the Faculty Award for the highest grade and outstanding performance in his Venture Capital Deals class.
Matt is an accomplished mountaineer and guide with 20+ years of international alpine experience including several 6000m summits. He has been to the highest point in 49 of 50 US states and is working on climbing and skiing the major Cascade volcanoes.
