Shweta Rao

Shweta Rao is a law clerk in Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice. Her work focuses on trade mark, copyright, trade dress, patent, and trade secret litigation. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants across a broad range of industries. Her application to the Massachusetts bar is pending; she is working under the supervision of the partners at Goodwin.

Shweta has experience in all stages of trade mark, copyright, trade dress, patent, and trade secret litigation, including discovery, motion practice, pretrial proceedings, and trial. She has experience on teams that have secured favorable outcomes through summary judgment, settlement agreements and at trial, including both bench and jury trials. Shweta’s representative experience includes:

• Represented a prominent insurance company asserting trademark infringement claims in federal court
• Contributed to the strategic management of trademark, trade dress, and copyright portfolios
• Represented generic pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman litigation
• Represented brand pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman litigation
• Contributed to several successful UDRP applications
• Represented a leading medical device company in trade secret litigation

Shweta also dedicates significant time to pro bono work, representing clients in a variety of matters. She has worked with the American Civil Liberties Union and the Innocence Project on initiatives aimed at criminal justice reform.
