Deepa M. Rich is a partner in Goodwin’s Life Sciences group and Business Law department Leader for the Silicon Valley office.

Deepa has years of experience working on corporate transactions for high-growth biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic, healthcare, and digital health companies. She also regularly represents venture capital funds and underwriters in the Life Sciences industry.

Deepa advises management and boards of directors on corporate governance and critical strategic matters – from general corporate, startup issues, public company reporting, market communications, and market regulatory issues to acquisitions, corporate development, and capital market strategies.

Deepa also has extensive financing experience, ranging from seed investment and venture capital through cross-over financings and public company securities offerings, such as initial public offerings, follow-ons, confidentially marketed public offerings (CMPOs), registered directs, and private investments in public equity. She also handles regulatory matters involving the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and stock exchanges. Deepa has advised buyers and sellers in a wide range of mergers and acquisitions.

Deepa co-led the development of Goodwin’s Women’s Health + Wellness initiative, a cross-functional effort guiding the innovators and investors reimagining the women’s health and wellness sector.

Deepa has been recognized by the Daily Journal as a Top Healthcare Lawyer in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Professional Experience

Prior to attending law school, Deepa was a commodity manager at 3Com and Palm Inc. During law school, she was an extern to the presiding judge in the California Sixth District Court of Appeals. She was also an extern to Judge Richard G. Seeborg in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
