Grant Schnell

Grant Schnell is counsel in Goodwin’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group.

Grant is a trial lawyer with a national practice focused on high-stakes litigation involving consumer financial services, data privacy, and cybersecurity matters. He represents clients in complex commercial disputes and class actions in federal and state courts across the country, including matters involving consumer protection statutes, unfair and deceptive trade practices, business torts, and contract claims.

Grant regularly serves as lead counsel in significant litigation and has been first-chair trial counsel in dozens of cases tried to a final verdict. He has also argued motions and appeals at nearly every level of the state and federal trial and appellate courts. Grant represents clients in parallel regulatory and enforcement matters as well, including investigations and proceedings before federal and state administrative agencies such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and state attorneys general.

Within the financial services sector, Grant has particular depth handling consumer credit reporting and consumer data litigation, including individual and class action matters under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and parallel state consumer protection statutes. Grant is a member of Goodwin's national team handling individual FCRA litigation for the firm’s consumer reporting agency clients, where he leads case-level litigation and strategy — including motion practice, dispositive briefing, and trial preparation — in federal and state courts across the country. That experience informs his broader work advising clients on compliance, litigation strategy, and dispute resolution in matters involving complex regulatory frameworks. Grant’s clients span the financial services, e-commerce, telecommunications, hospitality, and health care industries.

Grant maintains an active pro bono practice. He has handled multiple matters with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), representing unaccompanied minors in immigration proceedings, and has worked with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) to assist low-income families with critical civil legal needs.

Grant is admitted to practice in Florida and Georgia only; his practice is supervised by DC-admitted lawyers at Goodwin.

Prior to joining Goodwin, Grant was a senior attorney at Jones Day. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Anne C. Conway of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
