Joanna Cohn Weiss is the firm’s Assistant General Counsel & Director, Compliance. She is responsible for implementing and administering Goodwin’s vendor contract review and negotiation processes, reviewing outside counsel guidelines, and assisting with related compliance and ethics issues faced by the firm. She joined Goodwin in 2020.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Ms. Weiss served as the Director, Global Contracts & Special Projects at Sullivan and Cromwell LLP, where she implemented and streamlined review processes for contracts and client compliance requests. Ms. Weiss also served in the General Counsel’s Office at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where she had previously been an associate in the firm's litigation department, and held positions in state and city government. Ms. Weiss clerked for Judge Sidney H. Stein of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
While in law school, Ms. Weiss served as a Notes Editor for the New York University Law Review, and was winner for Best Oralist and Best Brief in the Orison S. Marden Moot Court Competition.
