Jade T. White is an associate in Goodwin’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Jade has worked with clients across a variety of industries, including real estate, pharmacy automation, private equity, financial services, and social media technology. He has litigated matters involving breach of contract, business torts, unfair competition, trade secret misappropriation, and fraud-based claims.

Jade has experience in nearly all stages of litigation, including case assessment and development, drafting complaints, drafting and opposing dispositive motions, discovery disputes and management, seeking provisional remedies, and arbitration. He has litigated in both state and federal courts.

Experience

Jade's successes for plaintiffs and defendants include:

  • Obtaining order sustaining demurrer without leave to amend as to declaratory relief claim asserted by tenant against landlord, a result the court acknowledged was rarely granted
  • Assisting pharmacy automation company and subsidiaries of a private equity firm in obtaining injunction, which prevented a former executive from launching a competitive company using misappropriated information
  • Obtaining order dismissing breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and fraud-based claims with prejudice in case brought against leading financial services institution
  • Obtaining two orders quashing service of summons for lack of jurisdiction in breach of contract cases, ending matters for out-of-state clients
  • Obtaining order compelling production of documents related to opposing party’s finances in lease dispute, which forced opposing party to withdraw its primary defense
  • Assisting pro bono client serving a life sentence for a marijuana conviction in obtaining compassionate release
  • Obtaining dismissal of breach of contract claim based on Rule 12(b)(1) in securities case involving a social media technology company

  • Representing pharmaceutical automation company and various subsidiaries of a private equity firm in a case brought against former employees for breaches of non-competition, non-solicitation, non-disparagement, and confidentiality agreements, and trade secret misappropriation
  • Representing private equity fund and its CEO at an arbitration hearing in a partnership dispute involving alleged misappropriation, breach of contract, defamation, and whistleblower retaliation claims
  • Representing landlord in lease dispute with tenant concerning COVID-19 moratorium and Proposition 65
  • Representing buyer in arbitration for breach of asset purchase agreement by seller
  • Representing bank in California state court case involving breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and fraud-based claims
  • Representing social media technology company in securities fraud and contract dispute with shareholders

Pro Bono Matters

  • Successfully obtaining compassionate release of client serving a life sentence in federal prison for a cannabis conviction
  • Seeking asylum for client who suffered extensive and severe past persecution due to their sexuality
