Goodwin Procter Attorney Receives Habitat for Humanity's Golden Hammer Award

MaryAnne Peterson Kanary provided hundreds of hours of volunteer legal counsel

BOSTON, Jan. 4, 2002 — Goodwin Procter LLP today announced that MaryAnne Peterson Kanary, an associate in the firm’s real estate department, recently received the Golden Hammer Award from Habitat for Humanity, Boston, in recognition of her pro bono work for the organization. MaryAnn has provided hundreds of hours of legal assistance for a number of Habitat projects, including help with real estate closings, low-interest loans and land acquisition.

Habitat for Humanity, established in 1976, helps low income families own safe and affordable homes. Through volunteer labor and donations of money, land and materials, Habitat builds or rehabilitates houses and works side-by-side with homeowner (partner) families. The organization also invests 100 additional hours in homeowner education classes learning how to maintain their property.
