Goodwin Procter LLP Honored by Friends of Boston's Homeless

Firm receives award for second consecutive year for providing pro bono legal services

BOSTON, April 8, 2002 — Goodwin Procter LLP today announced that the firm will be honored by the Friends of Boston’s Homeless for the second consecutive year for providing pro bono legal services to the organization. Mayor Tom Menino will present the award to the firm on April 10 at the organization’s annual “Beyond Shelter Event to Benefit the ”

Goodwin Procter provided both corporate and real estate assistance to the Friends of Boston’s Homeless. Its attorneys helped the organization establish a more efficient corporate structure, and assisted the group in acquiring and financing property in Boston, on which it will build affordable housing for formerly homeless people.

The Friends of Boston’s Homeless, founded in 1987, supports various programs and services that help the homeless move from shelters to independent living. Goodwin Procter has been providing pro bono assistance to the organization since 1994.
