BOSTON, Jan. 25, 2007 - Goodwin Procter, a national law firm with 700 attorneys, is pleased to announce that Paul Lee, partner in the firm's Business Law Department, is being honored with two awards next month.
On February 1, he will receive the Diversity Heroes Award given by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and the Massachusetts Bar Association at their annual Excellence in the Law event, which celebrates achievement and distinction in the profession. Lee is being honored for his longstanding work in promoting a more diverse legal profession at Goodwin Procter, in his local community and nationally through his work with the American Bar Association (ABA) and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. He continues to be active in the firm's Diversity Committee and played an integral role in the establishment of the Goodwin Diversity Fellowships, which provided a $15,000 fellowship to five law students this year.
In addition, Lee is receiving a Good Guy Award from the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus (MWPC) Education Fund on February 13, which recognizes men who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to achieving parity for women. The awards highlight MWPC's goal of attaining equality for women that can only be reached through the concerted efforts of both men and women in all areas of professional and political life. Lee strongly believes in the advancement of women and continues to work with minorities and women within the firm and within the community organizations in which he is involved.
In addition, as previously announced, Lee also is receiving the Spirit of Excellence Award from the ABA's Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession on February 10.
