Goodwin Procter Co-Sponsors Innocence Network Conference

Goodwin Procter, the New England Innocence Project (NEIP) and the Harvard Project on Wrongful Convictions sponsored the annual Innocence Network Conference at Harvard Law School, March 23-25, 2007. The conference boasted the largest total attendance (approximately 330 attendees) in its eight-year history, as well as the largest exoneree attendance (approximately 45).

Attendees included judges, lawyers and law professors, journalists and journalism professors, law students and various other college and graduate students, as well as persons exonerated by Innocence Projects or otherwise. Conference participants attended plenary sessions that included talks by the Honorable Nancy Gertner (D., Mass.), fire investigator and forensic scientist John Lentini, family members of exonerated persons, and original victims of crime. Concurrent sessions were divided into four tracks addressing education/project management/outreach, litigation and investigation, policy and reform and exoneree specific issues.
