Firm hires six Posse summer interns and hosts the Foundation’s annual board retreat and reception for scholars, alumni, career partners and friends
BOSTON, June 19, 2008—This year, Goodwin Procter has entered into an exciting partnership with the Posse Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and sends high-achieving urban high school students to elite universities in supportive, multicultural teams, or “Posses.” The firm hosted Posse’s annual board retreat and reception for scholars, alumni, career partners and friends.
While the firm has had a strong relationship with Posse for several years—with two members from Goodwin’s Committee on Racial & Ethnic Diversity serving on Posse’s Boston Council of Advisors—this year, Goodwin Procter became a Posse Career Partner. The firm hired six summer interns across various firm departments who are eager to explore a variety of compelling legal matters in a collegial atmosphere.
Additionally, the firm was successful in recruiting a Posse Scholar—a student who has been awarded full-tuition , four-year leadership scholarships from Posse partner colleges and universities—into its case assistant program. Case assistants provide support to attorneys and paralegals, including document organization and data entry for complex litigation and real estate transactions.
The concept of a Posse is rooted in the belief that a small, diverse group of exceptional students—a Posse—can serve as a catalyst for increased individual and community development. The Foundation has achieved an impressive graduation rate of 90%, with many graduates continuing on to law school and other successful professional careers. Through an intensive eight-month Pre-Collegiate Training Program, teams are formulated and students are prepared for enrollment at elite universities nationwide.
