DC Office Gathers Clothing to Support Gifts for the Homeless

The DC office was pleased once again to lend their support to Gifts for the Homeless ("GFTH"), a non-profit organization created by law firms to provide clothing for the homeless during the holiday season. Since 1986, the DC legal community has contributed new and used clothing to dozens of local homeless shelters and soup kitchens through GFTH. With the state of the economy, more people than ever are in need, and Goodwin attorneys were more than happy to donate their lightly used clothing, blankets and sleeping bags toward this effort.

This year's efforts were organized by Marva Deskins and Monica Douglas who encouraged office personnel to reach into their closets and donate the clothing that they no longer need. They also coordinated a group of volunteers to sort and package the clothing and to drive the bags of clothing over to the collection site.

Monica said, "Marva and I thoroughly enjoy participating in GFTH each year. The entire office is very supportive and eager to donate their clothes, finances, time, and energy. These efforts have a tangible and lasting impact on the lives of hundreds of D.C. citizens." Once the drive was complete, we were able to contribute 53 bags of clothing and $730 in monetary donations.
