Goodwin Procter Selected as a “2011 Best Law Firm for Women” by the National Association for Female Executives

BOSTON, September 14, 2011Goodwin Procter, a national Am Law 50 firm, has been named as a “Best Law Firm for Women” by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and Flex-Time Lawyers for the second consecutive survey year. The list recognizes 50 law firms across the nation that are supporting female lawyers with work-life balance and women-friendly policies, offering new standards that retain and promote top female legal talent.  NAFE is a division of Working Mother Media.

Goodwin Procter’s work/life and women-friendly policies will be featured in the fall 2011 issue of NAFE magazine, and are among those profiled at www.nafe.com, www.workingmother.com and www.flextimelawyers.com/best.asp. The firm will be honored with other winners at a special reception in New York City on September 21.

Goodwin Procter actively supports the development and retention of its attorneys through its firm-sponsored Women’s Initiative, a task force designed to maximize networking and career opportunities for women at the firm. The Women’s Initiative provides an array of programs and support addressing such topics as professional development, training, career growth, business development and work/life effectiveness.

“We’re honored to have been selected again by Working Mother for inclusion in this pioneering group,” said Regina M. Pisa, Chairman and Managing Partner of Goodwin Procter.  “This award is a direct recognition of the work of the many individuals throughout the firm who have contributed to the progress of our Women’s Initiative and is a challenge to all of us to do even more in the future.”

Pisa broke new ground in the legal industry when she became the first female chairman and managing partner of an Am Law 100 law firm in 1998.

All law firms with more than 50 attorneys were eligible to submit responses to detailed questions on the issues that are most important to the retention and promotion of female lawyers.  The 50 winning firms were selected based on factors that included their workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, and advancement and retention of women.
