Chris Palmer Nominated as "Independent Counsel of the Year" by Institutional Investor

The Institutional Investor publications Fund Industry Intelligence and Fund Director Intelligence have nominated Goodwin Procter partner Chris Palmer as “Independent Counsel of the Year”  for their 19th Annual Mutual Fund Industry Awards.

Palmer was recognized for his critical role in assisting the independent directors of The Hartford Mutual Funds navigate their legal and fiduciary responsibilities through a number of challenges in 2011, including the launch of three new funds, the sale of a closed-end fund and the consolidation of all of The Hartford funds under a single sub-advisor, Wellington Management.

The highly-coveted Mutual Fund Industry Awards annually recognize the mutual funds, fund leaders, marketers, trustees and independent counsel who were distinctive for their excellence, achievements, innovation and contributions to the field. Nominees were chosen by the editors of these widely read mutual fund industry publications based on their extensive industry-wide due diligence. The editors will draw on their own market intelligence as well as considered input from readers and industry leaders when selecting the winners.

Previously, Goodwin Procter partner Mark Holland was honored as “Independent Counsel of the Year” for his work in representing the independent trustees of the Reserve Funds. Please click here to learn more about Holland’s selection.
