Global 50 law firm Goodwin has been named a “Best Law Firm for Women” by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers for the seventh consecutive survey year. The annual report recognizes 50 law firms for leading the industry in creating and implementing best practices around retaining and promoting women lawyers.
Goodwin actively supports the development, retention and advancement of its lawyers through a number of efforts, including its firm-sponsored Women’s Initiative, which maximizes networking and career opportunities for women at the firm and fosters critical dialogue about gender diversity. The Initiative provides mentorship and sponsorship opportunities and focuses on innovative programming on topics such as professional development, business development, career paths, leadership and work/life integration. The work of the Women’s Initiative is complemented by a best-in-class FlexWork program, which offers gender-neutral and need-blind opportunities for lawyers to work remotely and adopt reduced or alternative hours arrangements.
“As the first AmLaw 100 law firm led by a woman, Goodwin has long been committed to advancing leadership for women, both within our firm and in the broader legal community,” said Goodwin Chairman David M. Hashmall. “We are honored once again to receive this recognition from Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers, as it affirms our significant efforts to attract, retain and promote a diverse population of outstanding lawyers and professional staff.”
Jennifer Owens, editorial director of Working Mother Media, said, “Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers’ Best Law Firms show how to make it work. Despite intense pressures, the success of the firms in creating workable solutions for working families shows their commitment and ingenuity to create a progressive future for their firms.”
Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers co-founded the Best Law Firms for Women initiative in 2007 to recognize firms that lead the industry in initiatives for women’s business development and career advancement, plus offer flexible work arrangements and generous paid parental leave, among other important benefits.
