Goodwin Welcomes Prominent, First-Chair Securities and Commercial Litigator Douglas Flaum in New York

Global law firm Goodwin announced today that Douglas Flaum has joined the firm as a partner in the Financial Institutions Industry practice in New York.  A nationally recognized securities litigation and trial lawyer, Flaum has more than 30 years of experience litigating cases on behalf of domestic and foreign corporations, directors, and special board committees in a diverse range of commercial, securities, and real estate matters.

Flaum has extensive experience advising on complex financial and business arrangement matters, including cases under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, joint venture and partnership disputes, long-term supply arrangements, business tort and contract matters, issues of corporate governance, alleged breaches of fiduciary duties, contests for corporate control, and a variety of enforcement proceedings. He also regularly conducts internal investigations of whistleblower complaints and advises corporations and their officers and directors in nonlitigation context. 

He has garnered significant praise over the course of his legal career including being consistently recognized as a leading lawyer for securities and commercial litigation by both Chambers and USA Legal 500. Additionally, he is ranked as a “National Star” and a “New York Litigation Star” by Benchmark: Litigation. Flaum is a prolific author having contributed to leading treatises on takeover defense and published articles on directors' and officers' fiduciary duties, attorney-client privilege, alternative dispute resolution, and international discovery.
