Goodwin partner Mitzi Chang was named to the Daily Journal’s 2019 Top Women Lawyers list. The annual award honors top women lawyers in California who have made a difference to their clients, firms and profession.

Chang is a partner in the firm’s Technology & Life Sciences practice and co-chair of its Digital Currency & Blockchain Technology practice. She focuses on corporate and securities law, representing public and private companies, venture capital and private equity firms and investment banks in capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, SEC reporting and other general corporate and securities matters. She also advises blockchain and digital currency companies and investors through a range of key regulatory and transactional issues.

The Daily Journal noted Chang’s counseling of the enterprise cloud platform Phunware Inc. on the launch of a $100 million offering by its subsidiary PhunCoin. The article also noted Chang’s work advising the capital investing group RPM Ventures Inc. on a $65 million Series B financing of the home equity financial technology company Figure Technologies.

In addition to her impressive practice, Chang was recognized for serving on the San Francisco office’s Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity, where she works to foster an inclusive environment and support the career development of attorneys of color.

“When I was a young attorney, it was hard for me to find people who were just like me 20 years ahead of me,” Chang said in her interview with the Daily Journal. “It’s gotten so much better since when I was a young attorney. But I think for the industry, it’s important to really try and be inclusive and to realize we are all a community.”

The Daily Journal is a daily legal newspaper in Los Angeles and San Francisco, featuring news and trend pieces on litigation, corporate transactions and regulatory legal work.
