Goodwin’s UK offices have been named a Lex 100 winner in six categories: Job Satisfaction, Firm Living Up to Expectations, Quality of Work, Client Contact, Financial Remuneration and Approachability. Lex 100 is the student’s guide to the premiere UK law firms, and this year’s winners represent the highest scoring firms as rated by their trainees.
Job Satisfaction asked trainees to rate their overall satisfaction as well as if they felt valued and respected at the firm. Goodwin’s “technically advanced work” is reported as balanced by “extensive support” from colleagues at the firm.
Living Up to Expectations measures how firms meet and even surpass the expectations employees have from their workplace. Culture and working style is cited by trainees at Goodwin, who responded that “the Goodwin training contract offers early responsibility and exposure to cross-border deals within a collegiate environment.”
Quality of Work looks at how trainees often want to hit the ground running with interesting and challenging assignments when they begin their training contract. Lex 100 winners were described to provide high-quality work to their trainees, and the work on offer at Goodwin is “technically advanced,” with plenty of opportunity to “get involved with the type of real-life tasks you will be doing once qualified.”
For Client Contact, trainees said the amount and variety of client interactions plays an important part in their experience on the training contract. Sometimes client contact goes much further than a routine transaction, earning Goodwin a spot among the top-ranked firms.
Financial Remuneration can really sky-rocket and this is something many prospective lawyers consider when drawing up a shortlist of firms. Goodwin offers impressive remuneration which went a long way to motivate trainees, especially during busy work periods when the hours can be arduous.
Lastly, Approachability measures how approachable trainees find their supervisors. According to the trainees reviewing Goodwin, “nobody is off limits to ask questions of or check your understanding with.”
