The Los Angeles Business Journal has named Tim Poydenis the 2021 Volunteer of the Year in Los Angeles. Tim accepted his award at a virtual ceremony held on April 20, where the Los Angeles Business Journal announced the winners of its Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards.
The Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards recognize the tireless work of individuals and companies who donate their time, funds, and efforts to improve the communities they serve. Tim was honored for the pro bono work he does in the LA community, which includes his work with pro bono law firm Public Counsel to spearhead the launch of Goodwin’s Neighborhood Business Initiative legal clinic focused on helping Los Angeles County childcare service providers struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this role, Tim advised dozens of childcare providers on the complex legal issues regarding reopening and reentry during COVID-19, as well as providing guidance on language in their enrollment agreements related to potential COVID-19 liability issues.
In November 2020, the Early Care & Education Law Unit of Public Counsel’s Community Development Project honored Tim, his partner Sean Greaney, and Goodwin as the Most Distinguished Volunteers of the Year. In regards to their contributions, Public Counsel stated, “Due to your assistance, so many child care programs have been able to keep their doors open to care for young children of working families. You’ve provided invaluable support to these small businesses by helping ease their concerns regarding liability and operating in the COVID-19 era.”
