Global law firm Goodwin announced today that sociates Louis Lobel and Sammy Tang will participate in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows and Pathfinder programs, respectively.
Lobel and Tang were selected for their work ethic, demonstrated leadership skills, engagement within the community and commitment to building a more open and diverse legal industry.
As a Fellow, Kim will embark on a learning program that includes a combination of virtual and in-person events, training in the fine points of legal practice, peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and extensive contact with LCLD's top leadership, including the managing partners and general counsel who host the Fellows for “Learning Experiences" and “Leadership Lunches." The goal is to produce a generation of lawyers with strong leadership and relationship skills who are committed to fostering diversity within their individual institutions and the profession at large. Each class of Fellows also serves as mentors to those who follow. Kim is a partner in Goodwin’s Technology and Life Sciences groups and Mergers and Acquisitions practice.
Past participants of the Fellow program included Sabrina Rose Smith, Calvin Wingfield, Nilda Isidro and Jesse Nevarez. Ryan Stouffer was the recent Fellow from Goodwin.
The LCLD Pathfinder Program is designed for diverse, high-potential, early career lawyers. The goal of this program is to provide Lobel and Tang with practical tools for developing and leveraging internal professional networks through relationship building skills, foundational leadership skills, and understanding of career development strategies applicable to both in-house and law firm practice. The program is designed to supplement individual Member training initiatives. Lobel is an associate in Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice and Tang is an associate in the firm’s Financial Industry group.
Past participants of the Pathfinder program included Lauren Bowman, Martin Gomez, Alexandra Lu, Sean Montgomery, Tiffany Mahmood and Jordan Howe. Carl Owens was the most recent Pathfinder.
Goodwin prides itself for its membership with LCLD, and has been a member since 2014. Founded in 2009, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity has grown to an organization of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners. United by a spirit of activism and personal commitment, LCLD Members participate widely in the programs they've created and have pledged themselves, through the Leaders at the Front initiative and other means, to creating a truly diverse, inclusive and more equitable U.S. legal profession.
