The New York Law Journal has named Goodwin partner Annie Railton a 2022 Rising Star. The awards recognize the region’s most promising and accomplished lawyers who are 40 years old and under. Winners will be honored at the New York Legal Awards on October 6.
Railton is a partner in Goodwin’s Government Investigations + Enforcement practice, and co-leader of the firm’s Healthcare Government Enforcement + False Claims Act Defense, Financial Services Litigation + Investigations, and Investment Management practices. She represents companies, boards, and individuals in government and internal investigations, regulatory and enforcement proceedings, and complex litigation, with a focus on the healthcare, life sciences and financial industries. She has also represented clients in several criminal and civil trials, including securing an acquittal on behalf of a former pharmaceutical executive in a closely-watched federal criminal trial involving allegations of illegal marketing.
In addition to her client work, Railton is actively involved in attorney mentoring and development. She serves on her department’s Attorney Development Committee and acts as a formal and informal mentor to many associates. She is also a prolific writer and thought leader who regularly writes and comments on government investigations and enforcement issues.
Railton is also recognized by Chambers USA for her work in White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations, where she is described as “an incredibly sophisticated lawyer who is solutions-driven, practical and has an excellent grasp of complex legal issues.” In addition, in February 2022, she was one of the leaders of a Goodwin team named first runner-up in The American Lawyer’s Litigator of the Week section for their work securing a full dismissal of a certified class action in an anti-kickback case seeking almost $400 million in damages, less than two weeks before a month-long jury trial was set to begin.
