The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) has named Goodwin a 2022 Compass Award winner. LCLD identifies law firms and corporations that show a strong commitment to building more diverse organizations and a more inclusive legal profession.
The Compass Award recognizes individuals and organizations that fulfill all of the participation requirements across LCLD’s programs in a single calendar year. This includes member attendance at the annual membership meeting or leadership summit, participation in the LCLD Fellows program, participation in the LCLD Pathfinder program and participation in an LCLD Pipeline program.
Founded in 2009, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity has grown to an organization of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners. United by a spirit of activism and personal commitment, LCLD members participate widely in the programs they've created and have pledged themselves, through the Leaders at the Front initiative and other means, to create a truly diverse, inclusive and more equitable U.S. legal profession.
Goodwin prides itself on its membership with LCLD, and has been a member since 2014. As part of the firm’s strong commitment to building a more diverse organization and a more inclusive legal profession, Goodwin has set two bold, public, and measurable diversity, equity, and inclusion goals that will help accelerate the pace of change within the firm.
Specifically, Goodwin has committed that by 2025:
- The diversity of (i) Goodwin’s senior associate population, and (ii) its population of partners and equity partners elevated in the preceding five years, will match or exceed its entry-level associate diversity, which is 50% gender diverse, 35% racioethnically diverse, and 10% LGBTQ diverse as of January 2020.
- The collective composition of all firm leadership committees will be at least 40% diverse.
