The American Lawyer Recognizes Goodwin With Best Use of Technology Award

Goodwin was named the winner of the Best Use of Technology Award at The American Lawyer Industry Awards 2022, which were held in New York on November 10. This annual honor recognizes the law firm that has successfully utilized technology to improve the delivery of legal services and enhance efficiency in internal or client-facing operations.

Goodwin was recognized for the success of its Deep Deal “What’s Market” Platform, which was designed to meet the urgent need for real-time insights into the firm’s decades of transactional experience. By combining existing technologies with established processes to capture and mine granular deal information, lawyers and professionals firmwide now have access to the latest intelligence on key market terms that can be used to advise clients, support negotiations, expedite drafting, and locate relevant precedents.

“We take great pride in fostering a culture of innovation at Goodwin, and technology plays an increasingly prominent role in everything that we do,” said Anne Stemlar, Goodwin’s Managing Director, Knowledge Management & Research. “The Deep Deal ‘What’s Market’ Platform is a prime example of this innovative spirit at work, as it will provide critical data-driven insights to clients and members of our firm for years to come. On behalf of my colleagues and the firm, I am thrilled that The American Lawyer has honored Goodwin with this year’s Best Use of Technology Award.”

Goodwin has an extensive background of using cutting-edge technology to foster collaboration and help the firm continue to provide the highest quality service to clients. By focusing on the practice of law and the business of law, the firm’s Global Operations Team, or GO! Team, develops first-of-its-kind solutions and partners with clients to provide business EQ from across the firm’s areas of expertise.

The development of the Deep Deal “What’s Market” Platform was led by Goodwin’s Knowledge Management team, including Stemlar, Patty Johansen, Sara Elevons and Maria Koury. There were also important contributions from many of the firm’s lawyers, including Josh Soszynski and Matt Mauney, as well as Goodwin’s Practice Management, Client Development, and Information Technology teams.
