Goodwin Launches 1L Diversity Fellowship Program for 2023

Professionals

Goodwin's 1L Diversity Fellowship Program for the 2023 Summer Associate class is open for applications. Now in its 17th year, the firm’s Fellowship provides first-year law students from historically excluded groups with the opportunity to be a 1L summer associate in Goodwin’s 10-week summer program in 2023, following their first year of law school.

Fellows will spend ten weeks in one of Goodwin’s offices, and they will have the opportunity to spend the final four of those weeks working at the direction of a Goodwin client. They will also be invited to participate in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 1L Scholars Summit and are eligible to earn an offer to return to Goodwin for their 2L summer with additional scholarship funding.

Application guidelines and forms are available online; the application deadline is March 10, 2023.

“Our focus on DEI maintains a two-pronged approach: ensuring equity in our systems and centering the lived experiences of those from historically excluded and marginalized populations. I’m proud that our national hiring efforts amplify this commitment and strategy,” said Kevin Lam, Goodwin’s National Hiring Partner. “In the last few years, enhancements to our 1L and 2L Diversity Fellowship programs have proven incredibly successful, creating pathways and mitigating the impact of barriers to enter the legal profession while providing our Fellows exposure to high-growth areas of the firm.”
