Joy Farrington is an Associate in the firm’s Business Law department working with the Private Equity and Tech business units. Joy’s practice focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, the representation of portfolio companies, early-stage companies, fund formation for start-up and early-stage technology focused companies, and other general corporate matters in a broad range of industries.

Professional Activities

  • Joy’s pro bono efforts include work with 
    • The GLAD Name Change Project where she offers high level guidance and leads pro se clients through the process for their name change and gender marker updates
    • Kid’s In Need of Defense where she aids clients in preparing Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) administrative complaints for families separated at the border
    • Landlord Tenant Resource Center where she provides legal assistance to pro se landlords and tenants who are coming to court to resolve disputes or have questions about their legal rights or obligations with respect to landlord/tenant matters
    • Lawyers for Good Government where she contributes to patients’ access to medical care by helping create legal guidance for reproductive health care providers through her research of state and local case law, legislation, and regulations
  • Joy serves as a mentor for the Leadership Council on Legal Diverstiy (LCLD) and the Georgetown University Scholarship program (GSP)
  • Joy is a member of the Washington Bar Association, DC Bar Association, and the Business Law group of the American Bar Association

Professional Experience

Joy is a former Litigator in the DC Superior Court Juvenile Division as a student attorney while attending Georgetown Law Center.
