Carrie Gilman is the Director of Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Client Development & Engagement. In this role, Ms. Gilman designs and implements organizational change initiatives and focuses on the lived experiences of those from marginalized backgrounds to drive the firm’s DEI strategy.

Ms. Gilman’s leadership is integral to supporting and expanding the firm’s client development efforts through client DEI partnerships to ensure that lawyers at all levels have access to career-enhancing work and leadership opportunities. Additionally, Ms. Gilman is responsible for creating a consistent talent management infrastructure within the firm’s business units and practice areas to ensure DEI sits at the core of that strategy. This includes developing and executing programs designed to attract, retain, develop and advance a diverse talent pool, foster inclusive leadership, and eliminate hidden barriers to success.

During her time on Goodwin’s DEI team, Ms. Gilman helped the firm establish bold five-year inclusion goals; launched an inclusion survey, name pronunciation tool, and framework for DEI billable credit as part of the firm’s Culture & Innovation time initiative; and established a consulting model for partnership with Goodwin’s business units and GO! Team departments.

Ms. Gilman is an active member of ALFDP, NALP, and PDC.

Ms. Gilman joined Goodwin in 2014 and brings more than 15 years of legal industry expertise, with nearly a decade as a DEI professional. Ms. Gilman is a results-driven leader, skilled in cultural change management, championing people, coaching, collaboration and innovation and disruption, promoting excellence, cultivating inclusive leadership, and enhancing engagement.   

Prior to joining Goodwin, Ms. Gilman worked in various marketing and business development roles, both within and outside of the legal industry, and in the public service sector of the legal profession. 

Ms. Gilman graduated with a B.A. from The George Washington University and received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
