Ms. Karp devotes much of her practice to representing defendants in complex products liability cases. She serves on the national counsel team for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer defending the client in mass torts, coordinated proceedings and individual cases in state, federal district and federal appellate courts. She is also counsel in matters involving various medical devices and litigates these cases on behalf of the client throughout the United States.
Ms. Karp has considerable experience obtaining dismissals for pharmaceutical and medical device clients on the basis of federal preemption. Her experience also includes widespread motion practice, oral arguments in federal court, case management conferences, pleadings, fact discovery, appellate briefs and preparation for federal appellate oral argument. She also has represented clients in a civil rights action in federal court.
Following law school, Ms. Karp worked as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney's Office.
Ms. Karp is a member of the American Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.
