Ms. Maur is an alumnus of Hofstra School of Law. Prior to her career in law, she spent several years as a legislative liaison for home health and hospice organizations in Missouri, working to secure funding for telemedicine and electronic health record pilot programs. Ms. Maur also spent nearly five years in the marketing industry, handling broadcast, email and online marketing. Her unique background provides her with detailed insights into medical marketing and advertising businesses and mobile health apps, which in turn helps identify unique challenges in these fields.
Ms. Maur has experience developing a variety of transactional arrangements including Management Services Agreements, Consultant and Vendor Agreements, including HIPAA Business Associate Agreements, and Licensing and Research Collaboration Agreements. She specializes in healthcare regulatory topics, including Medicaid and Medicare fraud defense and the application of genetic information privacy laws, including GINA, on research, commercial genetic testing and clinical care. Ms. Maur focuses her practice on hospital compliance, clinical laboratory compliance and licensure, and frequently develops internal and consumer-facing policies and procedures, HIPAA and FTC compliance documentation, and genetic information privacy policies. She is also certified in Clinical Bioethics, which provides her with a unique insight into the ethical issues faced by providers, public health entities and researchers. She also frequently interfaces with government agencies including but not limited to the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), NY State Department of Health (NY DOH) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Ms. Maur is a member of the ABA, NYSBA and NYSBA Health Law Section.
Ms. Maur served as adjunct instructor with Hofstra School of Law Online LLM/MA in Health Law—teaching Public Health Law & Ethics, Representing the Healthcare Provider, Medicare & Medicaid and Healthcare Compliance.
