Her practice focuses on intellectual property matters in the life science industry with a focus on chemical therapeutics. She assists clients with prior art research, patent preparation, patent prosecution, and freedom to operate analyses. She has extensive experience in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, natural product total synthesis, and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Dr. McCabe conducted doctoral research directed toward synthetic method development and natural product total synthesis. As a graduate student, she carried out an enantioselective total synthesis of the ergot alkaloid cycloclavine, investigated a new amine protecting group, and developed a novel Rh(II)-catalyzed asymmetric cyclopropanation. She has presented her work at invited lectures and national conferences, and authored scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals including Angewandte Chemie International Edition and Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry.
