Patrick S. Menasco

Patrick Menasco is a partner in and co-chair of the firm’s ERISA & Executive Compensation practice. With more than 25 years of public and private sector experience, Mr. Menasco enjoys longstanding connections with regulators, a broad proficiency in Title I and Title IV of ERISA, and a roster of clients that includes major national and international financial institutions.

His practice focuses primarily on the application of ERISA regulatory exceptions for private equity, real estate and other private investment funds, the operation and management of collective investment trusts, insurance company accounts and other ERISA-regulated investment vehicles, stable value issues, Title IV merger and acquisition issues, ERISA implications of sell-side capital requirements, derivatives and other capital market transactions, prohibited transaction exemptions, Department of Labor investigations, and adversarial proceedings, including ERISA litigation.

  • Represented seven major asset managers in criminal disqualification waiver proceedings before the U.S. Department of Labor*

Professional Activities

Mr. Menasco served as a senior teaching fellow at Tulane University Law School. He also served as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University Law School from 2008 to 2018. Mr. Menasco sits on the board of directors of the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc.


Mr. Menasco has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America Best Lawyers for his work in Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law 2022.
