Ms. Protess represents corporations and individuals in criminal and civil actions and government investigations, including from the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Her experience includes defending accusations of insider trading and other alleged violations of the federal securities laws at all stages, including trial, as well as conducting corporate internal investigations. Ms. Protess has briefed issues of law in the United States Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.
Ms. Protess is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense lawyers, the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey and the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey.
While attending law school, Ms. Protess was an editor of the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law. She was also an extern for the Center for Appellate Litigation, which led her to argue before the First Department of New York.
