Andrea Scripa is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of its Intellectual Property Litigation and Privacy & Cybersecurity groups. She joined Goodwin in 2017.

Ms. Scripa focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation, and also provides counseling to clients on copyright, trademark, and privacy and data security related matters. Ms. Scripa has experience litigating in federal courts as well as in patent and trademark proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes reviews. She has worked on cases relating to a variety of technologies, such as connected devices, software, and digital media. Her work on privacy and data security matters includes regulatory counseling and supporting incident response and investigations.

Ms. Scripa also maintains an active pro bono practice. Recent matters include helping lawful permanent U.S. residents complete citizenship applications and filing suit on behalf of immigrant detainees based on mistreatment suffered while in custody.

  • Manufacturing Resources Int’l, Inc. v. Civiq Smartscapes, LLC et al. (D. Del.): Representing defendants against claims of patent infringement relating to digital outdoor displays.
  • Samba TV v. Alphonso Inc. (N.D. Cal.) and Alphonso Inc. v. Samba TV (D. Del.): Representing Alphonso in competitor patent infringement and Lanham Act disputes on technology relating to digital ad campaigns on TVs and mobile devices. Achieved summary judgment of non-infringement on behalf of Alphonso in N.D. Cal. litigation, and successfully prevented institution of an IPR directed against an Alphonso patent.
  • Touchstream Techs., Inc. v. Vizbee, Inc. (S.D.N.Y.): Representing Vizbee in defense of a patent infringement lawsuit related to screen casting technology.
Professional Experience

During law school, Ms. Scripa interned with the Anti-Terrorism and National Security Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts and worked at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society. In addition, she served as editor-in-chief for the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology and was involved with Harvard’s Cyberlaw Clinic.

Prior to law school, Ms. Scripa worked in software engineering at Microsoft.
