Data Strategy, Security, and Privacy:
Mr. Thompson advises clients on best practices in data privacy and data security. Such representations include advising clients on information security policies, website privacy policies, and assisting clients in responding to security incidents. He also has experience in helping clients comply with applicable privacy law. Such representations include working with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), New York's Cybersecurity Requirements for Financial Services Companies (NY-CRFSC), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing (CAN-SPAM) Act of 2003, state privacy laws, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Mr. Thompson also assists clients with privacy and data security due diligence, and negotiates transaction documents in connection with deals for public and private companies and private equity investments.
Licensing and Transactions:
Mr. Thompson has also drafted and negotiated agreements and advised client on a diverse range of IP and IT matters. Such agreements include those for software and technology development and licensing, cloud computing, master services agreements, trademark licensing and sales, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). In addition, Mr. Thompson also assists clients with IP and IT due diligence, and negotiates transaction documents in connection with deals for public and private companies.
