Goodwin Procter Ranked Among Most Active Law Firms for Private Equity

BOSTON, April 23, 2008Private Equity Analyst recently ranked Goodwin Procter the 5th most active law firm for private equity and venture capital transactions, based on volume of deals closed in 2007. Counting only later-stage/buyout deals, the firm ranked 2nd after Latham & Watkins. The highly anticipated rankings are part of an annual guide published by Private Equity Analyst.

The survey results come on the heels of Goodwin Procter’s recent explosive growth in California, including the addition of a high-profile fund services practice in Silicon Valley as well as a team of private equity and debt partners in Los Angeles.

Goodwin Procter has a team of over 100 attorneys focused on later-stage buyouts, along with 160 attorneys who handle early-stage, venture and technology deals. The firm is one of the few in the country that can cover the full spectrum of the private equity asset class—from fund formation to exit and everything in between. In 2007, the firm was named among the nation’s top 10 law firms for Buyouts & Venture Capital Investment and for Fund Formation by Chambers USA, based on feedback from clients and peers. John LeClaire chairs Goodwin Procter’s Private Equity Practice; John Egan and Bill Schnoor serve as co-chairs of the firm’s Technology Companies practice.
