Goodwin Procter Receives Award for Excellence in Legal Marketing

BOSTON, Feb. 4, 2009 - Hubbard One, a Thomson Reuters business and web site consultancy for law firms, has selected Goodwin Procter for its Excellence in Legal Marketing Initiative of the Year Award. This prestigious honor was presented at the 16th Annual Marketing Partner Forum, sponsored by the The Hildebrant Institutue and West Legalworks.

Goodwin Procter’s Marketing team developed a innovative plan to cross-market two of the firm’s strategic practice areas, the Financial Services and the Private Equity Groups. This joint effort was designed to capitalize on the two groups’ core strengths and the emerging market of private equity investing in banks. The plan included hosted events, thought leadership roundtables, communications and PR, followed by a strategic and focused business development initiative involving attorneys from multiple practices and offices

“Our marketing team came together to develop a multi-faced marketing and business development strategy that has enabled us to position ourselves at the leading edge of this market with both existing clients and new clients,” said Gregory J. Lyons, Co-Chair of the firm’s Financial Services Group. “The marketing team evolved this from a nebulous concept to an active strategy to help take us exactly where we want to be.”

In collaboration with a group of partners from the Financial Services and the Private Equity groups the marketing team organized two conferences focused on the growing trend of buyouts targeting financial and banking institutions. These two successful conferences highlighted Goodwin Procter’s expertise and positioned Goodwin Procter as a thought leader in this niche market. 

The Hubbard One Excellence in Legal Marketing Awards are selected by a panel of independent judges. Awards are granted based on: demonstrable marketing results, demonstration of excellence, ability to show leadership and to take decisive action, innovation and sophistication, ability to communicate a specific message and intra-form political and consensus building skills.
