There’s a strong list of firms leading the way when it comes to VC work in the UK. In 2024, the top 10 most active firms in UK VC included Goodwin. Adam Thatcher, VC partner at Goodwin says: “It’s a lot more enjoyable to work with start-ups early on because we aren’t just flown into an existing company to fix something but instead have all the context and the opportunity to build more trust with the founders.” Thatcher believes there is more stickability with that approach. Across the pond, Goodwin has a presence in Silicon Valley. For each of the firms, the US plays an important role, either for referrals from Silicon Valley or to facilitate an expansion to North America. “The client needs to know we can help them scale anywhere they want,” says Thatcher.
