Global law firm Goodwin today announced that Candi Alfred has joined as Counsel on the Government Contracts and Grants team, strengthening the firm’s expertise in government procurement, regulatory compliance, and national security-related programs.
“We are excited to welcome Candi at Goodwin,” said Liza Craig, partner and head of the Government Contracts and Grants team. “With over two decades of experience, she brings a wealth of expertise in the defense contracting sector, which will benefit our clients and further expand the firm’s capabilities in the public procurement and national security legal space.”
Prior to joining Goodwin, Candi served in senior legal roles within the federal government, including as General Counsel of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, where she was the primary legal advisor to agency leadership. In that role, she advised on legal matters supporting DARPA’s research and development mission, including procurement, fiscal compliance, ethics, personnel matters, and intellectual property.
Earlier in her career, Candi held legal positions across the Department of Defense, including roles within the U.S. Department of the Navy and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Her work in these positions involved advising on contracting, operational and compliance matters related to government programs. Throughout her career, Candi has also advised on complex matters involving acquisition strategy, regulatory compliance and mission-driven programs.
Goodwin’s Government Contracts and Grants team advises U.S. and international companies that sell goods and services to, or receive grants from, federal and state agencies and tribal governments in the United States. The team represents companies in all aspects of the procurement process, including bidding on and negotiating contracts and grant awards with federal agencies.
