Goodwin Plans to Move Downtown LA Office to Arts District (Law360)

Goodwin announced Thursday it will move in early 2027 from its longtime home in downtown Los Angeles to an office in the nearby Arts District, saying the move is designed to bring the firm closer to its clients. Goodwin will move into the At Mateo retail and office complex at 555 Mateo St., in the Arts District. The firm will occupy the entire second floor of the building, which spans approximately 29,000 square feet. "This is really about us being close to where our clients want to be and also where I think our team will enjoy being," David Pendergast, LA office chair, said. "The Arts District has got tech companies. There are VC firms that have offices there." The move is unconventional for a BigLaw firm in downtown Los Angeles, but Pendergast is unconcerned. "I thought more about what our clients are doing and how do we get closer to our clients. We have this approach of being immersed in the industries that we operate in and seeking to be business partners to our clients who happen to need good lawyers. This is the kind of place our clients want to be. What other law firms are doing may be what's better for them, for their clients, but where we want to be is close to our clients," Pendergast said.
