Goodwin will move its Downtown Los Angeles office after operating there for nearly 20 years in favor of a new location in the trendy, adjacent Arts District neighborhood. Goodwin established its current office in Downtown LA at 601 S. Figueroa St. and currently houses about 75 people, both lawyers and staff. The firm’s LA office chair, David Pendergast, said that the firm plans to take advantage of a neighborhood that is popular with both lawyers and clients, while also in close proximity to technology startup clients. “I don't think we thought about it as a distinguishing factor relative to what other law firms are doing,” Pendergast said of the new location. “We thought about it more [in terms of] how do we immerse ourselves in the worlds and the industries our clients are in.” The Arts District, he said, “is a place where our clients would want to or do have offices, and the kind of place where they would want to be at, not just working but outside of work and work-adjacent,” Pendergast added, citing the proliferation of top restaurants in the area.
