A former partner at Goodwin’s Silicon Valley office has rejoined the firm in San Francisco, Goodwin announced on Wednesday. Michael Russell is back at Goodwin, rejoining the firm’s Technology group in the M&A practice as a partner, and will be based in San Francisco, according to the announcement. Russell said on LinkedIn on Wednesday that he is “excited to rejoin the tech M&A practice at Goodwin!” Craig Schmitz, Goodwin partner and co-chair of the firm’s technology practice, said in a statement on Wednesday that Russell “knows our platform, our clients, and the innovation economy inside and out. We’re excited to welcome Mike back to Goodwin. His return strengthens our strategic transactions team and enhances our ability to guide clients through their most important matters.” With nearly three decades of advising clients on complex domestic and cross-border transactions, Russell has amassed deep expertise across corporate and securities transactions, including M&As, divestitures, joint ventures, public and private equity, debt offerings, capital financings and restructurings, among other strategic transactions. Russell is particularly focused on both the buying and selling sides of M&As for technology and life science companies in diverse industries, from artificial intelligence, internet and financial tech to digital media, e-commerce, biotech and digital health, according to the firm.
