Law Firms Seek Bespoke Differences in Legal AI (Financial Times)

After a few short years of learning, experimenting, and planning, law firms’ strategies for the next phase of using legal AI are taking shape. Their demand for AI that automates routine tasks and improves client service has created a booming market. Now several international law firms want to build their own AI platforms in pursuit of gaining an edge over rivals and protecting their intellectual property. In August, Goodwin said it will spend about $25 million a year to buy and develop its own AI. It has already rolled out a venture financing tool.
