Timothy Beavers is an associate in Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice. He represents clients in complex intellectual property disputes across a variety of industries, including biotechnology, small and large molecule pharmaceuticals, medical devices, drug delivery, and computer processing technologies. His practice includes patent, antitrust, and trade secret disputes in federal courts, including matters involving pharmaceutical products, biosimilars, genomics technologies, and emerging technologies. Timothy’s experiences span pre-suit investigation through trial and appeals. Beyond litigation, his experiences also include inter partes review, IP diligence, and freedom to operate analysis. Timothy also represents pro bono clients in civil rights, products liability, and immigration matters.

- After a six-week trial following years of litigation, successfully defended Teva Pharmaceuticals and co-defendant Gilead Sciences in a federal jury verdict in San Francisco regarding antitrust litigation concerning the sale of generic versions of HIV treatments Truvada and Atripla.
- Represented a pharmaceutical company in BPCIA litigation concerning proposed biosimilars, which included multi-district proceedings involving numerous patents related to biologic formulations, dosing regimens, manufacturing methods, and delivery devices.
- Represents a biotechnology company in patent litigation involving nucleic acid enrichment, genomics, and sequencing technologies in federal district court and related administrative proceedings.
- Represented pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman litigation involving patents covering branded drug products and regulatory market-entry issues.
- Represents clients in trade secret and unfair competition litigation involving the development of therapeutic peptides and life sciences innovations.
- Represented a healthcare manufacturer in litigation involving ophthalmic products, including defeating a preliminary injunction motion and successfully arguing an appeal concerning a stay pending inter partes review.
- Advises clients on complex patent disputes across life sciences and technology sectors, including matters involving biosimilars, other pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, and emerging technologies.
