Dora Cheung is an associate in Goodwin’s Private Equity group and a member of its Debt Finance practice, based in Hong Kong. Dora has a broad range of experience advising private equity sponsors/borrowers, credit funds, corporates and financial institutions on finance transactions, with a focus on leveraged and acquisition finance.

Prior to joining Goodwin, Dora was an associate in the Hong Kong office of Kirkland and Ellis, and before that an associate in the Hong Kong office of Clifford Chance. She has spent time on secondment with the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs.

Dora is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

  • Advised Bain Capital Private Equity in connection with its significant equity investment in EcoCeres, Inc., an innovative biorefinery company with leading R&D capabilities.*
  • Advised a leading alternative asset manager in connection with the leveraged financing for its acquisition of a Singapore-based technological services provider.*
  • Advised DCP Capital and Ocean Link Partners in the take-private of 51job, Inc. (NASDAQ: JOBS). This transaction was named “2021 Deals of the Year” by China Business Law Journal and “TMT Deal of the Year” by Asia Legal Awards 2022.*
  • Advised an ad hoc committee of offshore bondholders in a restructuring of over US$19 billion offshore bonds issued by China Evergrande Group and its subsidiaries. This transaction was named “Deals of the Year 2022” by China Business Law Journal.*
  • Advised an ad hoc committee of noteholders in a restructuring of US$450 million senior notes issued by Golden Wheel Tiandi Holdings Company Limited (HKSE: 1232).*
  • Advised CITIC Capital on the senior secured term and revolving facilities to Lifestyles Healthcare Pte. Ltd., a portfolio company owned by CITIC Capital and Humanwell Healthcare and a global leader in the sexual wellness sector, to refinance its 2018 acquisition financing.*
  • Advised PAG and Yingde Gases on the refinancing of Yingde Gases’ US$250 million high yield bond.*
  • Advised Navis Capital on the financing of its acquisition of QIMA (formerly AsiaInspection), a leading global quality control and compliance service provider.*
  • Advised a multinational investment bank in connection with its roles as incoming trade finance provider and major creditor in relation to the restructuring of Noble Group Limited.*
  • Advised Platinum Equity
    • on the bridge-to-bond acquisition financing for the privatisation of Fischer Tech Ltd. (listed in Singapore), a manufacturer of high-volume precision engineering plastic components.*
    • on the acquisition financing for two PRC manufacturing units from Broadway Industrial Group (listed in Singapore).*
  • Advised Hillhouse and CDH Investments on the dividend recapitalisation financing for Belle International Holdings Limited.*
  • Advised COFCO (Hong Kong) Limited on a financing provided by Bank of China for the acquisition of a Hong Kong-listed agricultural products company.*
  • Advised HKBN on its various debt financings including in relation to its merger with WTT Holding Corp.*
  • Advised the arranger on the financing for Sunac China’s investment in Wanda Commercial Properties (being part of the US$5.4 billion strategic investment by Tencent Holdings, Suning Commerce Group, JD.com and Sunac China to buy a 14 per cent. stake in Wanda Commercial Properties).*
  • Advised the financiers on a US$5.5 billion syndicated term loan facility to a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Chemical Corporation Ltd. for the partial refinancing of the US$12.7 billion facilities used for the acquisition of Syngenta AG.*
