Jessica Pauley

Jessica Pauley is an associate in Goodwin’s Litigation department. She represents technology, life sciences, and biotechnology companies in complex commercial disputes, patent litigation, and arbitrations conducted under ICC, JAMS, and AAA rules. Jessica joined the firm in 2024.

• Representing biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in confidential arbitrations arising from licensing, collaboration, and commercialization agreements involving the development of innovative therapeutic products
• Representing Samsung Electronics in high-stakes patent litigation and Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings involving speech-recognition, natural language processing, and voice-interaction technologies (VB Assets, LLC v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., E.D. Tex.)
• Representing Samsung Electronics in patent infringement litigation and Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings involving touchscreen, stylus-input, and user-interface technologies used in flagship smartphones and tablets (Tactual Labs IP LLC v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., E.D. Tex.)

Prior to Goodwin, Jessica spent 15 years in engineering and leadership roles for companies including Amazon and Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX). She is an expert in the rapid development of highly integrated hardware systems.

Jessica began her career working as a chemical engineer and production supervisor in both domestic and international commodity chemical plants before transitioning to aerospace hardware development.

Jessica joined SpaceX in 2014 where she led the manufacture, build, integration, and test of stage separation and reentry systems on the first orbital class booster rocket to launch and successfully land. After her time at SpaceX, Jessica led development testing of two clean-sheet rocket engines and their associated propulsion systems, including the design and commissioning of a greenfield liquid rocket engine test site. Most recently, she was an early employee at Amazon’s Project Kuiper, where she was responsible for building the team, systems, and facilities that built Amazon’s first low Earth orbit satellites.
