Lauren Kuehn Pelletier is an associate in Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice. Lauren has experience litigating patent and commercial litigation matters in various United States district courts and New York state’s commercial division. She has represented leading technology, healthcare, and life science clients. Lauren also maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on matters of education law.

Experience

Lauren has been involved in various stages of litigation and her experience includes discovery, motion practice, claim construction, and pre-trial proceedings. Lauren’s engagements include:

  • Represented Pfizer in patent litigation against Merck concerning pneumococcal conjugate vaccines*
  • Represented Abiomed in two patent litigation matters in which the client’s intravascular heart pump products were alleged to infringe eight patents owned by another medical device company. After prevailing at claim construction, the case was narrowed to just two patents. Obtained summary judgement of noninfringement on the primary patent, which cleared the way for the company’s $16.6 billion acquisition by Johnson & Johnson*
  • Represented several Biotronik entities in two patent infringement litigations against W.H. Wall Family Holdings, LLLP concerning angioplasty stents. Resolved after successfully dismissing related litigation in the Western District of Texas*
  • Represented Anthem, Inc. in a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against its pharmacy benefits manager, Express Scripts, Inc. (ESI), arising from ESI’s breaches of its contractual duties to negotiate in good faith to ensure that Anthem receives market pricing for pharmaceutical drugs*
  • Represented a New York-based hedge fund in a high-stakes dispute arising from an aviation sales and leasing joint venture*

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Goodwin, Lauren was an intellectual Property associate at another leading international law firm. 

Prior to law school, Lauren was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach English in Germany. During law school, she served as a legal intern in the Office of International Affairs of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and a legal intern in the Litigation Bureau of the Office of the New York State Attorney General.
