Georgia Powell

Georgia Powell is an associate in Goodwin’s Technology and Life Sciences groups. She advises biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and technology companies on strategic commercial transactions and intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on licensing, collaborations, and other partnering arrangements.

Georgia advises clients across the full business lifecycle, from early-stage research collaborations through to commercialisation. She has experience structuring, drafting and negotiating collaboration, licence, option, research and development, manufacturing, supply, and distribution agreements involving innovative therapeutics and other cutting-edge technologies. She also advises on broader commercial and regulatory matters, commercial contract disputes, and the commercial and intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

Drawing on her PhD in molecular genetics from King’s College London, Georgia combines scientific understanding with commercial legal advice to help clients navigate complex transactions involving innovative technologies and valuable intellectual property.

• Zealand Pharma on its collaboration with Roche in the largest-ever single-asset partnership, valued at up to $5.3 billion, to co-develop and co-commercialize petrelintide monotherapy and potential combination products, including petrelintide/CT-388, in the U.S. and Europe as a treatment for obesity
• Synaffix B.V. on license agreements for the development of antibody-drug conjugates using its ADC technology platform and related supply agreements with partners including Bristol Myers Squibb, BigHat Biosciences, ABL Bio, Hummingbird Bioscience, and Innovent Biologics
• Synaffix B.V. and its selling shareholders on the sale of Synaffix to Lonza
• Oxford Biomedica plc. on license and clinical supply agreements for the manufacture and supply of viral vectors with partners including Novartis and Cabaletta Bio
• Xintela AB on its collaboration and license agreement with EQGen for global rights to the equine stem cell product EQSTEM®
• Elevara Medicines on its exclusive license and related services agreement with Teijin Pharma relating to TCK-276, a CDK4/6 inhibitor, including arrangements for the supply of investigational drug product for an initial Phase 2 clinical trial
• MiNA Therapeutics on its collaboration and option agreements with Nippon Shinyaku and BioMarin Pharmaceutical relating to small activating RNA therapeutic candidates
• Renaissance Pharma on its exclusive license agreement with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for a humanized antibody for the treatment of newly diagnosed high-risk neuroblastoma
• Tay Therapeutics on its license agreements with VYNE Therapeutics

Prior to joining Goodwin in 2019, Georgia was a senior associate at Taylor Wessing LLP.
