Geoffrey R. Starr

Geoffrey R. Starr is a partner in Goodwin’s Life Sciences and Technology groups. Geoff represents high growth companies operating in technology-focused industries, including life sciences, digital health, medtech, software, and data analytics. He represents several national and international private and growth equity sponsors and venture capital funds in their investment activities, as well as strategic buyers and sellers in their M&A transactions.

He has significant experience working with clients at all stages of the corporate life cycle. He regularly works with entrepreneurs and founding teams to set up company structures with firm foundations that enable fast, flexible growth. As those companies develop, he often serves as outside counsel, advising management teams and boards on issues ranging from day-to-day commercial matters to corporate finance, corporate governance, and strategic matters.

Geoff regularly assists clients with their financings, and over the course of his career, he has handled hundreds of venture capital, growth equity and other financing engagements for both companies and investors.

In addition, Geoff has a robust M&A practice. His clients range from emerging growth companies experiencing a liquidity event, to private and growth equity sponsors acquiring or selling a portfolio company, to global businesses supplementing or managing their product lines.

In addition to his corporate practice, Geoff maintains an active pro bono practice in which he regularly counsels tax-exempt organizations and various groups seeking tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code. Geoff also actively supports several organizations focused on providing critical medical care to those most in need.

Prior to joining the firm, Geoff was a partner at another international law firm.
